Scanly Privacy Policy

Scanly (“the app”) is a document scanning app published by Express Services Group, Corp (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how your privacy is protected.

Our approach: on-device by default

Scanly is designed to keep your documents private. Scanning, image enhancement, text recognition (OCR), automatic naming, and organization all happen locally on your device. Your scanned documents are stored on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not require an account to use the app.
  • We do not collect, sell, or share your scanned documents or their contents.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Camera and photo library

With your permission, Scanly uses your device camera to scan documents and may access photos you choose to import. These images are processed on your device to create PDFs. Scanly does not access your photo library without your action.

Optional cloud backup (Google Drive)

If you choose to connect Google Drive, Scanly uploads the documents you select, or new scans if you enable auto-upload, to your own Google Drive account. Scanly uses Google’s “drive.file” permission, which limits the app to only the files it creates in your Drive — it cannot see or access your other Drive files. You can disconnect Google Drive at any time in Settings. Your use of Google Drive is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

Notifications

If you enable bill reminders, Scanly schedules local notifications on your device. These reminders are generated on-device and are not sent to us.

Data retention and deletion

Your documents remain on your device until you delete them. Deleting a document in the app, and emptying the Recycle Bin, removes it from your device. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored documents.

Children’s privacy

Scanly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
