Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a document?

Tap the + button and choose Scan Document. Position the document in the camera; Scanly automatically detects the edges and captures it. You can add more pages, then review and save as a PDF.

How do I change the filter or crop after scanning?

Open the document and tap the adjust icon. You can switch between Original, Enhance, Grayscale, and Black & White, and drag the corner handles to crop. Tap Save to re-render the PDF.

How do I scan an ID card?

Tap + and choose ID Card (front + back). Scan both sides; they are placed neatly on a single page.

Are my PDFs searchable?

Yes. Scanly automatically recognizes text (OCR) on your device, so your saved PDFs are searchable and you can copy text from them.

How do I back up to Google Drive?

Go to Settings → Cloud Service → Google Drive and connect your account. Turn on Auto Upload to back up new scans automatically. Scanly only accesses files it creates in your Drive.

Is Scanly free?

Yes. Scanly is free to use.

How do I recover a deleted document?

Deleted documents go to the Recycle Bin (Settings → Recycle Bin), where you can restore them until you empty the bin.
